Statement
My cheerful, abstract watercolor paintings celebrate the joy of letting go. After feeling stuck with how controlled and careful my acrylic work had become, I discovered the playfulness of watercolor—where the paint flows like it has a mind of its own and there's no going back. This "no eraser" quality was exactly what I needed—it challenged me to be less of a perfectionist.
The Conversations collection came to life during my Zoom calls with artist friends. While we chatted, I kept reaching for watercolors instead of acrylics. I'm a messy painter—with acrylics, my sticky hands distract me. Watercolors let me just paint and talk at the same time.
I kept things simple, using whatever colors were within arms reach and just one brush. I didn't want to miss any of the conversation! My shapes are soft and rounded, like smooth river stones that make me feel grounded in the present moment. I love painting with bright colors and warm neutrals. They remind me of those moments filled with kindness and laughter.
My paintings capture the warmth of community, the beauty of imperfection, and the surprising freedom that comes from simply letting the paint (and life) flow where it wants to go.
